Sinara seeks a home!

#1

Hi. I like long posts! Please grab a cup of coffee before reading, you'll need it!

My application:

1. NAME (optional)
Tapio

2. AGE
(If you prefer, indicate which range you fall into: Under 15 / 15-20 / 20-30 / Over 30)
27

3. COUNTRY OF RESIDENCE
Finland

4. TIMEZONE
GMT+2

5. PREVIOUS MMORPG EXPERIENCE
(i.e., other online games played or currently playing)

I've tried and been disappointed by - ranked by level of disappointment - Vanguard (LV6), WAR (LV24), AoC (LV80), EQII (LV56, actually enjoyed the game though) and *blush* LotrO (LV46). More on that later.

Currently I reside in World of Warcraft, which I've played since the US closed beta. I've no intention to leave the game, as I love the guild I'm in and would probably settle for an online version of Tetris if it was the only game I could play with them. That said, the game is currently devoid of meaningful content and I absolutely love the world Tolkien created and would like to share the experience with like-minded individuals. I also have too much spare time.

In case anyone cares, I've had a pretty hardcore history of WoW raiding. I used to be in a top guild and took part in 99-100% of the progress raids of that guild on my hunter, priding myself on my skill and knowledge of the game. I've played every character the game has, most of them to the max level. I wouldn't say I've since become more casual...I'd say I've changed my attitude to gaming and life in general. I still aim to be the best, but realize that I can enjoy the game without the need to min-max everything as long as I'm with people that think alike. Thus I nowadays play in a more laid-back guild with people from various backgrounds that tries to cater a bit to everyone and most importantly offer a fun and friendly atmosphere. I've even met a lot of the people from that guild IRL and enjoy their company to the fullest outside the game as well. I guess what I'm trying to say is I've seen both sides of the coin, but certainly know which one I prefer.

As for the choice of warden, tanking is somewhat of a passion of mine of late, as evidenced by my first choice of guardian. I've tanked everything there is to be tanked in WoW and I really enjoy it. The feeling of people knowing that you're a dependable tank is just golden.

6. PREVIOUS LOTRO EXPERIENCE
(i.e., how long have you been playing, etc.)

I played for 2 weeks after the original SoA launch, made it to level 46, realized I didn't have any of my level quests and even all the fellowship quests I had were higher than my level, then logged off. Didn't really think about logging back before my playtime had expired, the game was really a huge letdown - no feasible means to level after being forced to group for the past 15 levels was enough to kill my motivation for the game. I can grind if there's need, but it's not exactly one of my favorite things (Hello Age of Conan).

To avoid repeating the same mistake I've taken it slow on my warden and tried to enjoy everything to the fullest. In the past 2 weeks I've only made it to level 23, but the familiar feeling of actually having fun is starting to sink in again. Smile

7. HAVE YOU BEEN A MEMBER OF OTHER KINSHIPS?
(if so, which, and why you left them)

Nope. Was in a kinship on my guardian, but the kinship had disbanded when I logged back on it.

8. YOUR MAIN CHARACTER
(name, class, level, some idea of equipment)

Sinara, Warden, 23, silly looking orange pants and assorted leather items!

9. YOUR ALTS, IF ANY
(as for main character)

Errain, Guardian, 46, quest/instance/self-crafted purple items, whatever quality that may be. Wink

10. HOW DID YOU HEAR ABOUT TWA?

LotRO official forums

11. DO YOU KNOW ANY CURRENT TWA MEMBERS?

Nope!

12. ABOUT YOURSELF
(if you want to, please tell something about yourself in real life)

Ah! Me - my favorite subject... or..well.. anyway, on to the point!

I like orderly things and have a very strong sense of justice. I'm currently studying law in the university of Helsinki and have aspirations of one day becoming a court judge. I'm in this for the betterment of society and think of myself as being well-suited for the job, as I'm sometimes objective to the utter ruination of my personal goals. It has gained me a lot of friends over the years - ones that certainly love me for who I am - but it can also drive people away from me. I tend to dislike people who abuse charity (greed Sad ) and demand people to help them only because they are lazy. I love helping people who don't expect help, but would appericiate it if it was offered.

As my hobbies I enjoy metal music - I sing (not growl) and play the guitar, enjoy reading (Hello 50000 pages of law text) and work out...just some boring gym stuff to satisfy the material needs of society towards a single man in his late twenties. Wink

I've read the LOTR books about a gazillion times and I also read the Silmarillion in english for the first time at an age when I didn't understand anything about it. I still fondly remember the first page taking in excess of 30 minutes even using a dictionary. You could say Tolkien's works are a passion for me and I absolutely love every bit of empty space crafted for immersion in LOTRO. If any of you have played Warhammer online, the contrast couldn't be more stark, and WAR certainly isn't on the winning team.

As this is a light-RP kinship I'll have to say I'm not really into active role-playing, but do enjoy immersing myself to some extent in my character - usually through action. I don't really claim to understand standing around in a circle saying silly things in bad english, but I absolutely understand the need to give everyone the space they need to have fun. I might silently chuckle about it, though, but not openly confront you for wearing a silly hat with no stats for dragon-killing!

My "role-playing" would more likely be evidenced through names, surnames, tradeskills, equipment (looks) and an overall stance towards playing the character to the fullest extent allowed by the class. When I play my Warden - I think of her as a Warden, not a "tank" or "dps". Oh yeah I seem to have developed a complex of playing female tanking characters *blush*.

13. ABOUT YOUR MAIN
(even if you are not into role-playing, try to give a back story about your main character)

This is a bit challenging as hobbits are not supposed to adventure in Tolkien's works as a general rule. I try not to think of the backstory of my character too much, as it'd probably just destroy my immersion rather than add to it. The Stoors were the last to cross the Brandywine River, though, so perhaps Sinara's adventurous blood can be derived from there!

14. I AM INTERESTED IN RAIDING
A LOT / SOMEWHAT / NOT AT ALL
Somewhat

15. I AM INTERESTED IN FELLOWSHIP QUESTS
A LOT / SOMEWHAT / NOT AT ALL
A lot - the fellowship quests are the most colourful in the game and as such a big part of what I look forward to.

16. I AM INTERESTED IN RP & RP EVENTS
A LOT / SOMEWHAT / NOT AT ALL
Somewhat / Not at all, depends on the type of the event EG. standing in a circle versus something creative!
