Well well, the client download worked well, it is installed and patching atm, so by the time the servers go up, I will have a new and fresh us-client install up and running, I guess I am happy Smile

Hehe, i beat you on download Parm Wink

Downloaded the US client and installed it... i find out that my first lotro account (2008) still worked and log on all my 7-day trial chars to check them out, they all looked so noobish  ;D

The old lotro takes here about 15,4Gb (EU) space and the new one 12,6Gb (US), high resolution of course.

I hope it has all the expansions and updates, so won't have to update anything anymore and don't have to launch that EU client anymore. Otherwise the installation went smoothly. ...atleast i could see all the maps out and see the location names etc. of MoM & mirkwood.

Download took about 4-5h with average 0,5Mb/s speed and after installation the launcher downloaded some updates under 0,5h.
I downloaded the small file from here first http://www.lotro.com/support/download-lotro and that one downloaded about 10,5Gb of installation files. After the downloading were done, you can install the actual game (so need like 23Gb space for all).

if you go the Pando route, make sure to uninstall the Pando program through settings/software, as it keeps seeding your data for others to download. Basically it's a peer-to-peer tool like bittorrent, but then designated to one specific dataset.

So is the advice to simply download the US client (then you can play straight away?) or go through the migration link?

And yeah I noticed Pando very busy - who can see the data and what is it sending? - just other downloads or stuff on your hard drive?
Gimli: Oh come on, we can take 'em.  Aragorn: It's a long way. Gimli: Toss me. Aragorn: What? Gimli: I cannot jump the distance, you'll have to toss me.
[pauses, looks up at Aragorn] Gimli: Don't tell the elf. Aragorn: Not a word.

There's no reason to download the US client (unless you want a fresh install).  Personally I'll wait and use the migration link and update current client.  If there are any issues with it only then will I consider downloading 12GB of new data.
