Yes, and then run that and it will start downloading the full game client.

[Holds his nose and jumps...]

Great.... 15 hours to go...

Presumably I then do a complete uninstall of the existing game?

Guess it is safest, dont forget to keep/backup the lotro folder in "My Documents"

While Lotro of course leaves a few markings in the windows registry (and as Thar pointed out: in My Documents) the lotro installation folder is completely self-contained. That is you can always double click the launcher executable from within your backuped lotro folder and start the application. You only need the proper installation (ie. the entries in the registry it sets) if you want to install a precompiled patch. The live-update will always work.

This is particularily helpful if you want to install Lotro on more than one computer. Just do a bare minimum install from your DVD without patching stuff at all just to get the registry information. Then copy the contents of a fully patched client install over and enjoy. Worked for me more than once, but ymmv.
It's all simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain!

From Morgatai: here's Dnotes message on twitter: Okay, we know which file is causing the problem and are working on replacing it on the patch servers

Seems they are getting into it atm...

The Lord of the Rings; Mines of Moria was successfully removed from your computer.

Belegwe, if this goes pear-shaped I swear I will pay a homicidal dwarf to find you and kill you...

Me likes!

Also, I would advise everyone with the errors discussed in this thread to wait until after the CM update (bit late with the advice but you never know).

EDIT: It's already patched up now, but I believe the login-servers are still offline since I get a 403: Forbidden?
