Turbine assuming full control of Dungeons & Dragons Online® in Europe

#1

I've been dabbling a bit in Dungeons and Dragons Online (DDO) and the following news came up:

What the topic title said. Tongue

I know it doesn't have a whole lot to do with Lotro, but I've always wondered how Codemasters were going to do the FTP thingie with the Turbine points. This article has some interesting info that might shed some light on the transfer.

For people that aren't in the know: DDO has gone FTP a while ago but just on the American servers, DDO Europe was still subscription based, until now that is.

I wonder how long Codemasters still has a lease on the Lotro license. I for one wouldn't mind if Turbine took over Codemaster operations for Lotro. At least we'd no longer be second-rate Lotronians.

Agreed. The fewer middle-hands, the better. Codemasters haven't done a bad job at all, but you do notice that they need to refer all business to Turbine, before Turbine in turn get back to them with an approval/disapproval. Being in more or less direct contact with Turbine should benefit the European players in the long run.

Turbine taking over LOTRO in Europe would be among the things I would least like to see.  Codemasters are a company that I can relate to, that I can trust, that I understand and their ethos is far more preferable to me.  Turbine have proven themselves out of touch with reality on too many occassions.

Incidentally, I don;t think it would happen and the biggest hint of that is F2P.  Codemasters are in the loop this time, they are developing their own shop for F2P, and have been involved since the start.  I doubt Turbine would renege on that deal now.
