Signups & no-shows

#1

I really shouldn't have to spell this out: if you have signed up for a raid or quest on the event scheduler, whether as TWA member or FTWA, you have an obligation to your fellow players to show up. If you can't show up, or will be late, you should make every effort to let your team mates or the raid leader know - even doing so at the last minute is better than nothing. Anything else is simply discourteous, and can result in an event being canceled when it might have gone ahead with a standby player. This also applies to those on standby; if you signed on as standby, please make yourself available at the time specified, if only for 10 minutes or so. Everybody please take note.

Maybe a good point to add is that if you're on standby and don't like hanging around, it's best to show up around start time or 5 minutes late and wait for 10 minutes, instead of showing up 10 minutes in advance and leave when raid is supposed to start (and usually isn't). Since we usually wait a few minutes before replacing no-shows. Also don't be shy to shout (in kinchat or /tell or on Mumble) that you're there and available if you think you may be missed, as raid-leader invite time is usually a bit of a chaos so it's easy to miss people, especially on alts and stuff.

It is indeed frustrating when people don't show up, even if it's for a 'simple event' on the lower levels. Like Kairos wrote, it's discourteous not to let your friends know when something comes up that interferes with any plans you might have made, no matter how insignificant they may seem to you. Raids are especially sensitive, and I would once again like to suggest linking to the raid preparations within the event description for any raids that are scheduled. Most will probably not take note, but at least it's there, and together with the fact that it's listed under 'useful links' on the website, and that it's been reminded about countless of times (at least it feels like it), there really should be no excuse, claiming it's difficult to know what is expected of people who sign up for events. The raid preparations instructions are especially interesting for those who have signed up with the active raiding group, as people in that group are expected to give a little extra for the sake of a successful raid - it sounds like lack of consumables among raiders is still a big issue, for example. Perhaps it would be wise to link to these raid preparations in the raiding group topic, as well, so that anyone signing up for it is fully aware of the somewhat higher demands that are placed on its members.
