Funny thing is not as much what they did, but how easy it is to spot who's seen the film, of those in the library, and who has no clue what it's about Smile

Hmm.... I hadn't thought of that. The event was set up with the NYPL in order to publicise their financing problems, which is why the guards were cool, but none of the onlookers freaked out either. Maybe because the obviously non-threatening ghosts were there first to set the scene? But yes, I sure as hell wouldn't want to bank on the sense of humour of any Stateside "peace officer", private or public.
