New application

After an in-game conversation with Methrendomir, it was agreed that I should post a new application on behalf of my main. So here goes, with apologies for the inevitable repetitions.

Kairos, Elf Hunter, l.32
An unusually solitary Mirkwood elf who follows the trade of full-time mercenary, Kairos has fought in many minor wars and campaigns across Middle Earth, almost always in the role of scout, skirmisher or raider. His interest in matters military has recently made him take up the profession of historian/scholar, in which guise he is working on a monograph provisionally entitled ?Small Unit Operations in Middle Earth?.

Kairos has played various roles in Fellowships; in properly balanced Fellowships he would normally fight in the second rank, following the orders of the team leader, but he has also fought in the front ranks when acting as leader to a group of juniors.

OC:
I am a freelance writer, amongst other things, with an enthusiastic amateur?s interest in ancient and medieval history, and a fondness for SF & fantasy fiction running from Tolkien to Erickson and Iain M. Banks. Long experience of CRPGs, from Wizardry to Oblivion.  Played a bit of WoW, but disliked the cartoon graphics. Have played LOTRO since it went public. I play regularly, and see myself as staying with the game for a long time, since I am fascinated by the ways in which both the plot and game-play are likely to develop.

Whilst I prefer by far to play on a RP server, and very much enjoy the RP atmosphere, I am mostly a passive RP player myself; in other words, I will maintain the mythos and atmosphere, and respond to other players in kind, but will not normally RP actively along the lines of inventing stories or going in for 'pretend' or imaginary activities. Again, while not a hardcore level-at-any-cost player, I do look forward to training and questing with a group of roughly equal partners, and eventually taking part in the major raids. In other words, I suppose you could say I take the game reasonably seriously...

Does this mean you are withdrawing the application of your champion character?

No. Ideally, I would like to apply for both characters. I first applied on Sarpedon 's behalf alone, in view of the fact that Hunter applications had been suspended for the time being. However, I had a long chat in-game with Methrendomir last night, and he asked me to apply for Kairos as well. At the moment Kairos is my main character, but as I told Methrendomir, I am also planning to build up Sarpedon as a Champion. So, to conclude: the ideal outcome from my point of view would be for both characters to join the Western Alliance, but I would be happy if even one of the two were to be accepted.

Greetings Kairos!

Many thanks for reapplying as your hunter main character.  We have a little news, which while disappointing for us is probably very good news for you!  One of our long-standing hunter members is leaving for WoW (Shock!) and so will not be with us for much longer.  This means we now have a space for a fresh hunter, and as we had a great conversation the other day, I'm pleased to welcome you to our kinship!  I'm sure you'll be very happy here.

Of course, your champion is welcome to join as an alt, as all alts of members are welcome!

Speak to any officer, or myself, in game for an invite!  (If they sound confused, point them to this post on the forums!)

When you say you are interested in Erickson, is that  Steven Erikson author of Gardens of the Moon et al?

I tried to get into his books and in fact have them all, and find them highly compelling reading, its just unfortunate that I find the way they jump from location to location and plot exceedingly hard to follow.

However they are a wealth of detail and an enriched setting that draws the mind.

I also recommend Robert Jordans Wheel of Time series
