I think they must be using the more-than-the-actual-rate currency exchange to sort out their prices.

yeah the difference between Pounds and Euros is like 6 Euros...ridiculous.

Think I will use the change location trick and pay in pounds, Credit card exchange rate should come no were close to 6 euros.

This was from http://community.codemasters.com/forum/s...02&page=13:
Quote:US Lifetime members, or 3-, 6- or 12-month customers, pay $20 (= £12.50) and get SoM+Adventure pack. Oh look, the US are $12 better off.

And that's comparing against UK players. Now let's do the rest of Europe. That daft continent.
US Lifetime members, or 3-, 6- or 12-month customers, pay $20 (= €13.44) and get SoM+Adventure pack. EU pays €27.99 for theirs. Oh look, the US are €14.55 better off. Hey! That's twice as cheap!
And just for fun:
UK players pay £20 for SoM+Adventure pack. £20 = $32. EU pays €27.99 = $41.65. Hey, anyone in the UK is $10 better off! For the same damned bandwidth used.
I is in ur Fellowships, stealing ur threats.

this is why I actually felt my intelligence insulted when Satine posted her "explanation". There is no reason for the staggering 26% difference in price between the UK an EU.
Of course it doesnt matter, in the end we can bitch and moan but we still have to pay the amount and there is no one in the world who is going to care. I am not going to stop playing for the principle of a few euros and miss out on playing with my friends, some people will stand on principle but CM wont notice so have no need to adjust anything.
And considering I get screwed over daily by the phone company, utilities company, petrol company and pretty much every other financial organisation I come into contact with in my life including my bank, my employer and my own damn government this is just one of lifes lesser annoyances.
But at then end of the day it does mean I will treat CM like all these other companies and when push comes to shove show them no customer loyalty whatsoever, and with that in mind I can only hope the rules of Karma do their work and Turbine pulls CMs Lotro license.
Cause then at least I only have to worry about one company screwing me over while playing this game.

Well, tbh everyone could have seen coming that we were going to pay around 20 pounds for SoM + Adventure Pack. US is paying $20 for it and with higher costs for staff and higher taxes in EU, it usually comes down to the same figure. The really odd thing is though, that they then decide to use a GBP to EUR exchange rate that would have been a little bit too high more than a year ago, but is complete off course today. And in the process, they also manage to mess up the 'pre-order package' prices, because those were of course initially calculated in pounds. I've just changed my address to the UK and saved me € 6, thought we'd be past weird things like that with open European markets and stuff...  :-X

the difference is around 25% between pound and euro prices....it's crazy, ad to that the fact that buying SOM and adventurers pack separately is actually cheaper just makes me wonder what kind of clowns they have working in their financial department.

Saved myself a solid amount of money by applying the above-mentioned trick of switching country of residence in the account details. It's freaking stupid the way this works.

I havent been playing Lotro as much as I used to lately and I must admit that this over-price for Mirkwood might just be the tiny little thing that pushes me over the edge to not be playing at all.
The price-difference between US an Europe I can handle. That is just the way things are in the gaming business, but why on earth is there a difference between british and other europeans? That is just plain wrong. Yes, i can change my country while ordering, but then I would still be supporting a company that feels I should pay more for a game than my british friends. I am just not sure I want to do that.
I will just have to wait and see. I have not made my decision yet.  I know its not a lot of money. For me its the principle in it. As a consumer you have to put your foot down at some point.
