Application through song - Leufin - 09 Nov, 07 /clears throat Many an old / Father's axe was lifted down / from the nails, where long they had / hung in peace. Venerated / brought to shore, Said farewell / and took their hands, There kissed a many / sweet red lip, Never again / kissed with love, For many were / not seenÃÂ again, Such is common / when Fathers leave. /steps down from table. Aye, it is in dark times we live. A veil of uncleanliness shrouds our homelands. Even the birds and bears have grown fierce, I fear, Dourhand Dwarfs and goblin Men are sowing spite between the races. But let us not despair! There are many things left in this world to cherish. Have you beheld the splendor of Thorin's Halls? The bustling streets of Bree? The serenity of Rivendell? The hospitality and joyous celebration of life that is the Shire? We are bound by duty as old as stone of the mountain and trunk of the oak. We must keep on. We must defend. All to one end, so we may sing and chant and skald! --- Hello there, my IC name is Leufin, a Dwarf Minstrel from the White Mountain (though I like to think of him as "skaldir", a war-speaker). I was appraoched by one of your Officers yesterday, Shrindrae, as she (or is it he? Hard to know with Elves, isn't it! Heh heh heh, just kidding lassie) were gracious enough to help us Avert a War in Ered Luin. I haven't quite decided where I want to go with my character yet. He's a Tinker (Prospector, Jeweller, Cook), and other than catering to the common Dwarf stereotype (grumbling, mumbling, arr matey) I'm going to play him as a stout but basically joyful persona. A no-nonsense kind of person, intolerant of improductive behaviour, but easily-melted when presented with kindness or beauty. In RL my name is Jacob, I'm 28 years old, and live in Gothenburg, Sweden with my girlfriend of three years. Hope I can join you! (Verse above is from "Erik's Chronicles", an old medieval Swedish epic written in Knittel-verse, slightly modified. Very beautiful poem, and appropriate for this occasion I thought!)
