Raiding protocol (again) - Kairos - 21 Dec, 11

This question was last addressed nine months ago, and I’m sorry to have to bring it up again so soon. Kinship raiders are required to follow certain very simple, self-evident rules; these can effectively be summed up in one prime directive, which is "Show respect for your fellow raiders".

Raiding at any level is a time-consuming and above all cooperative business. This means that eleven other people have put aside their normal occupations in order to participate, and to give you the opportunity of participating. Of course this is just a game, but the dedication that goes into participating in a raid represents a very real investment in time and effort by everyone else; if you treat that investment with contempt, you are treating your fellow kinship members with contempt.

How do you show contempt?
• You show contempt by signing up and never turning up;
• You show contempt by suddenly going AFK without permission and never showing up again;
• You show contempt by never or rarely sharing in the burden of group buffing, and by making the same 3-4 people provide scrolls and hope tokens for the group;
• You show contempt by turning insufficiently prepared and equipped, or without the necessary potions.

There is no excuse, short of a RL crisis, for signing up for a raid and then dropping out without any kind of warning at all. Of course circumstances may require you to drop out, but it’s a rare circumstance that doesn’t even allow you to post a note or send an email. You should make every effort to let us know if you can’t make it, or that you will be late – even if it’s at the very last moment.

We are not a hard-core raiding kinship, and raiding is certainly not required of anybody - but if you choose to raid with TWA, then please respect these principles.

Couldn't agree more.

Re: Raiding protocol (again) - Beriel - 21 Dec, 11

Yesterday (the 20th) I left my pc running and retired to my couch as I was feeling unwell. It was not until this evening (21st) I remembered that I had signed up for the raid and in all the Christmas preparations forgot to put it in my calendar. So not only was I unable to show up, I also did not leave a note. I am very sorry for this, and apologizes to all who was affected by my absence.
I hope the people who know me, will know that this is not my customary behavior and that I am truly sorry for letting people down.

With apologize
Beriel

Allow me to kick this thread again.

I have been in the regular raid and the offraid this week, each raid we had to wait for someone to finish his reforging / deconstructing his LI's and relics before we could continue the raid.

Guys and girls, please don't do this. I find it disrespectful towards your fellow kinnies to have 11 people waiting for you, so you can finish something trivial that can easily be done before or after. In the raid it is not only YOUR time, it is OUR time.

Thanks.

Re: Raiding protocol (again) - Threclo - 09 Feb, 12

Not only that going afk without notice or going to reforge/decon your LI's wastes other people time but usually makes you not concentrated enough to listen what raid leader is saying. That can lead to serious mistakes when the raid actually goes on which in fact means more wasted time due to a non-necessary wipe. It is a thing with multiple consequences imho.

Couldn't agree more with both of you. It potentially effects the progress of the raid and is bloody annoying.

Re: Raiding protocol (again) - Maegluin - 09 Feb, 12

As of today I don't feel in the mood for raiding.

Thor's comment during the raid dealt with the issue quite clearly enough no? No? *grabs pitchfork*

Sorry to hear that Maeg but it is a fair point.
Listen up lads, our aim has always been to have fun in all aspects of the game so everyone just chill, keep to your commitments (dont let anyone down) and have a laugh while doing it. Otherwise there's no point on playing the game!
